This workshop brings together experts from across campus to share data-driven insights and pedagogical applications so that FSEM faculty can meet the increased challenges around student well-being and academic readiness. This gathering aims to equip faculty with actionable strategies “before the warm hand-off” to campus resources; as FSEM faculty, our mentorship and advising roles offer us the ability to plant the seeds of accountability and community within our students. More specifically, we’ll hear from Justin Stoeckle, Associate Director of Wellness & Prevention, around social determinants of health and how they impact academic performance, from Kristy Firebaugh, Assistant Vice Provost, Student Success, on the DU undergraduate context around academic readiness, and then our Director of University Teaching, Virginia Pitts will offer some reflections on how to integrate specific strategies, including (but not limited to!) the Well-Being Wheel of Academic Success (presented by Stoeckle) or the “why” of assessments (presented by Firebaugh) into our Fall 2025 FSEM sections.
Location: Chambers Center 150 - Foundations Room
