Compassionate Advising and Compassion Fatigue: Being Compassionate without Burning Out

Michele Tyson, Director of Faculty Advising

How do we manage the toll of highly compassionate roles like advising? Even when we're committed to compassion toward students, we still have to manage the potential for compassion fatigue, which can not only impact our own well-being but shape our compassion toward others. In this dialogic, interactive session we'll discuss the challenges associated with compassionate advising and compassion fatigue as well as offer insight into how to manage these dynamics in our own role.
